Wessex Heartbeat supports the work of the Wessex Cardiac Centre in Southampton General Hospital, ensuring it stays a Centre of International Excellence for the treatment of heart conditions. Since it was set up in 1992, over £11 million has been raised by the charity to support the Centre including the provision of Heartbeat House where loved ones can stay free of charge for as long as they need.
When Wessex Heartbeat identified a need to replace its existing fundraising database, it selected ProgressCRM. "To support our growth strategy, we needed to streamline our processes in order to become more operationally efficient", said chief executive D'Arcy Myers. "More effective contact relationship will mean that Wessex Heartbeat can identify areas for increasing income, at the same time saving costs through improved reporting and methods of working."
"We are one of the region's major charities helping to ensure that the best possible care is provided for all those affected by heart conditions," said D'Arcy. "Wessex Cardiac Centre is one of the UK's leading heart treatment centres, treating around 20,000 people a year, a thousand of which are children."
Wessex Cardiac Centre also houses its own superb conference facility which is hired out to generate income for the charity. Its 'Heartbeat Education' suite has global video-conferencing facilities, remote diagnosis and tele-medicine are also used for training and education of cardiac staff, with audiovisual links to labs and operating theatres.
